View from the sky – at the controls of West Kirby’s big crane

A crane operator working on the site of a new retirement home complex in West Kirby has shared photographs taken from his cab.

The huge structure was built several months ago to assist with the construction of 38 homes on the site of the former Brookfield Nursing Home.

The home was demolished in 2019 after plans were approved to replace it with a new residential care home.

However the site was then acquired by Churchill Retirement Living, who got the green light for a new scheme for a collection of luxury one and two bedroom retirement apartments.

Crane operator Paul Griffiths told West Kirby Today: “What a very friendly community this is – all the kids wave and everyone looks up.

“Everyone finds it very interesting and have lots of questions when I have come down to speak to people.”
