West Kirby Christmas Lights switch on takes place this Saturday, 18 November.

Around 100 volunteers have been busy over the last few months collecting thousands of pounds in donations to cover the cost of installing and maintaining the lights. Many local businesses have also sponsored a lamppost or tree.

The celebrations start from 4pm outside the Concourse, with fair rides and entertainment from West Kirby Primary School choir and the Rock Choir.

There will also be food and drink – and a special appearance from Father Christmas – before the lights are switched on at 6pm.

Children can also pop into Home Instead on Grange Road to see Father Christmas, where they can also post their Christmas letters. The letters need to be addressed to: Santa, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ. Each envelope needs to have a stamp on it, and the child’s address written on the back. Paper, envelopes and pens will be available at Hannah’s cafe.

Rachel Kehoe, from West Kirby Christmas Lights, told us: “The success of the lights in recent years is down to the support of our amazing community.

“We rely solely on donations from local businesses and residents.”
