Plans have been submitted to convert flats above Lily’s restaurant on Banks Road into bed and breakfast accommodation.

The first and second floors would have six bedrooms each, and there would be a further bedroom on the South Road side of the building at ground level.

Outside there would be a new entrance porch, while the chimney on the roof would be removed.

A similar scheme with 11 bedrooms was granted planning permission in 2011 but lapsed as it was not progressed.

At that time, local people objected on the grounds of parking and traffic, but highways officers did not agree, concluding: “The proposal for 11 additional rooms is relatively small-scale development when compared to the existing capacity of the restaurant”.

A consultation on the planning application is open until Thursday 6 June and can be viewed at https://online.wirral.gov.uk/planning/index.html?fa=getApplication&id=229374.
