Almost 40 artists and makers are throwing open the doors to their homes and studios in West Kirby, Hoylake and Meols this weekend.

Wirral Open Studio Tour is now in its 14th year of celebrating visual arts, and will see artists and makers exhibiting in dozens of venues across the peninsula from 10am – 5pm on 8/9 June, with some also open from 6 – 9pm on the evening of Friday 7 June.

Locally, Dennis Spicer will be painting live in Melrose Hall in Hoylake, while Jenny Dunlop will be welcoming people to her studio on Banks Road.

Tour organiser and glass artist, Helen Smith, said: “We’re very excited about this year’s event.

“With many new artists and new venues, it’s shaping up to be our best yet.

“We receive wonderful feedback each year from the thousands of visitors from across the north west who are inspired by the art trail. And we really love being able to help spread the word of the amazing talent we have here on the Wirral.”

The artists work in a variety of disciplines including painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles and jewellery, and much of the work on show will be for sale.

The tour was initially set up in 2009 in Hoylake and Meols by Canadian artist Micheline Robinson as ‘Artists in Our Midst’, and quickly evolved into a Wirral-wide event.
