West Kirby in Bloom is celebrating five years of brightening up our town.
A team of volunteers has been working hard since 2019, carrying out digging, raking, weeding and planting.
The group’s aim was to “tackle local grot spots and improve the look of West Kirby by planting flowers and shrubs”.
Brightening up Grange Road for The Open
Chairman Martin O’Shea told us: “The 15 regular volunteers have spent 10,000 hours planting and caring for over 7,000 plants in 50 planters and barrier baskets around the town, improving and enhancing many of the neglected areas with 1,000 shrubs and plants and generally keeping our public areas tidy.”
West Kirby in Bloom have received generous support from the public and almost 50 local businesses, who have helped fund their equipment and plants.
A total of 54 colourful planters are now dotted across West Kirby, and they have also created flower beds and displays in areas around the Concourse and Grange Road.

Their AGM takes place in West Kirby United Reformed Church on Monday 28 October at 8pm – all are welcome.
