A 24 hour kayak on the Marine Lake in West Kirby has raised enough money for a life-saving defibrillator for Hoylake and West Kirby Sea Cadets.

Ian Langton and Pete Eyres spent the day and night from Saturday 28 September until Sunday 29 September on the water, encouraged by sea cadets, friends and family.

They have successfully raised around £2,500 to buy an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) which will be used by cadets, visitors and staff in the event of an emergency at their unit, TS Stork, on Column Road in West Kirby.

In an emotional video message on their fundraising page, Ian thanked those who came along to support them during the challenge.

On social media, Hoylake and West Kirby Sea Cadets said: “We are so proud of PO Eyres and CI Langton for completing their kayak in challenging and cold conditions! A true demonstration of dedication, perseverance and self discipline to keep going.

“Thank you to all their supporters, donators and cadets for cheering them around the lake.”
