West Kirby lifeboat rescued a man who dislocated his shoulder on Hilbre Island.

They were scrambled on Monday afternoon after the victim slipped on rocks.

Wirral Coastguard said that lifeboat crew carried out an initial medical assessment and provided pain relief.

The RNLI said: “The D-class lifeboat, Leonard Pownall, launched within 10 minutes of the call from HM Coastguard.

“The crew located the casualty, provided care at the scene, led by Sam Hanson and safely brought him back to shore with support from the fantastic Wirral Coastguard Rescue Team.”

A pontoon was used to transfer the casualty to the coastguard.

Due to a delay in the arrival of an ambulance, the man was taken to hospital by a friend.
