Church Farm Park in Thurstaston has closed its doors after more than 20 years.

The park, which first opened its doors in 2004, included walking trails, farm animals, play areas, and themed family events.

The closure means that family visits, tractor rides, farm parties, school visits, pumpkin picking, the Easter Egg Hunt and the Family Fright Festival will now not be available.

Steve Ledsham, one of the Directors at Church Farm, said: “While we are saddened to see Church Farm Park close, we are immensely proud of the legacy we have built over the past 20 years.

“We are grateful for the support and memories shared by many local families and will work to ensure that this spirit lives on in future projects.”

The site will instead now focus on Christmas events including its Santa experience and Christmas tree sales, as well as the Forget Me Not Fields natural burial ground.

Church Farm says that most of the farm animals have already been re-homed successfully and have gone to sanctuaries, other farm parks and some other local farms.

The reindeer will remain at the farm and will be available to view as part of the Christmas events.
