Detectives are appealing for information after a teenage boy had his electric bike stolen at knifepoint in Meols.

At around 6.10pm on Friday 27 February, the 13-year-old victim was with friends in Queens Park off Birkenhead Road when he was approached by an unknown male dressed in black, and wearing a balaclava.

The suspect made threats and pushed the victim from his bike, causing minor injuries and was also in possession of a machete.

The suspect stole a Merida eOne-Forty 500 electric bike and rode towards Hoylake Promenade.

Police enquiries are ongoing, including studying CCTV and interviewing witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Stephenson said: “The victim was left understandably distressed and we are supporting him and his family as our investigation continues. The use of threats and possession of weapons in our communities is completely unacceptable and we are determined to find the person responsible.

“We are gathering all information so if you know anything, or have seen this bike for sale, please come forward directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers. You may live locally and have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the offender making off. Please check any devices.

“You can contact us in a number of ways, but please refrain from naming individuals on social media, as this may ultimately hinder our investigation. Pass these details to us, and we will make an assessment and take appropriate action.”
