A man from Meols has been arrested as part of an investigation into child cruelty at the Life School in Wallasey.
The independent school for children with special educational needs was the subject of a BBC Panorama programme broadcast last month, in which an undercover reporter recorded staff members behaving inappropriately.
Merseyside Police said: “A 43-year-old man from Meols, a 21-year-old man from Wallasey and a 26-year-old man from Irby have been arrested on suspicion of child cruelty.
“They have been taken into custody to be interviewed and enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”
Wirral Council removed children it had placed in the school, which was rated good by Ofsted, and it has subsequently closed.
UPDATE 4/7/24: A fourth man from Birkenhead has now been arrested and the other three have been conditionally bailed.
