School pupils help clean up Wirral during coastal walk

A group of pupils from Calday Grange Grammar School have cleaned up whilst taking part in the Wirral Coastal Walk.

Ethan Miah-Garcia and his friends walked from Seacombe to Thurstaston on Sunday 6 July to raise money for their trip to Kenya with Camps International next year, during which they will undertake a number of volunteering activities.

They decided to clear up litter as they took part in the 15 mile hike along the Wirral coastline, which is organised by the Rotary Club.

Ethan told us: “Along our walk, my friends from Calday Grange Grammar School and I thought it’d be great to do a litter pick to help take care of our community.

“So many parts of the walk are covered in litter and we came across a car park that was absolutely covered in rubbish.

“Although it meant we took a lot longer to complete, we felt it was worth the delay—we left the coastal path in a lot better shape and were proud to have made a real difference.

“We’d love people to help us reach our goal for Kenya. If anyone can give we’d really appreciate it and would absolutely do more litter picks to get Wirral clean and tidy.”
