Caldy Open Gardens has raised more than £40,000 for Age UK.
The annual event, organised by The Caldy Society, sees local people throwing open their doors for people to enjoy their outdoor space.
The money has been used to buy two wheelchair accessible vehicles, which will be used for the charity’s ‘Home from Hospital’ service.
The service helps vulnerable people return home safely after a hospital stay, ensures they can attend follow-up medical appointments, and supports them through recovery, reducing hospital readmissions and freeing up beds sooner.
Rich Crosbie, Lead for Out of Hospital Services at Age UK Wirral, Liverpool and Sefton, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone involved in Caldy Open Gardens 2025 for enabling us to replace our worn out vehicles with a new fleet.
“This guarantees we can run our Home from Hospital service efficiently and reliably for years to come.
“From each and every person who will benefit from our new vehicles – thank you!”
With the remaining funds, the charity will purchase a third vehicle – a general purpose van to be used for transporting luggage, furniture, medical equipment etc, all essential to their day-to-day support work.
