Work is set to begin on the construction of 32 apartments on the site of the former West Kirby fire station.
The Blueoak Estates scheme includes one, two and three bed apartments, which the developer argues is “utilising the long redundant site to create much needed quality homes to suit a broad local demographic”.
The fire station closed in 2016 as part of a reorganisation which saw it and Upton replaced by a new station in Saughall Massie.
Wirral Council had rejected the apartments scheme on the basis that it could impact on plans for a new masterplan for the centre of West Kirby. However, this was rejected by a planning inspector on appeal because the document does not yet exist.
