Hundreds of women who took part in the Glow With The Flow Ladies Twilight Walk are estimated to have raised over £20,000 for Wirral St John’s Hospice.

More than 800 girls and women of all ages took part in the 5-mile walk on Friday 14th October, which started at West Kirby Leisure Centre.

Glow sticks, glow-in-the-dark accessories and glow-in-the-dark face paint were offered to everyone taking part.

Jennifer Emery, Director of Zest Fitness, hosted a pre-walk ‘Clubercise’ dance warm-up at 7pm.

She said: “Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and there was a fantastic party atmosphere that set them up for the walk.

“The UV outfits and accessories really fit in with Zest’s theme, which is that you can never be too bright.”

Anita Cull-Roy, 51, of Wallasey, takes part in Glow with the Flow every year and was the first to cross the finish line, followed closely by her 14-year-old niece, Anna Cull.

She said: “My Dad died in the Hospice in 2011, and taking part in events like this really means a lot to us.”

The walk was organised by Teresa Nightingale, Head of Fundraising for Wirral St Hospice St John’s and Michelle Talgan, Fundraising Development Manager for the Hospice.

They were both very happy with the number of people who not only attended, but dressed up in neon colours and UV for the glow in the dark theme.

Michelle estimates that once the sponsorships have been added up, they will have raised over twenty thousand pounds.

She said: “It makes us really proud to see the local support that the hospice relies on, come out in full force to be a part of Glow with the Flow.

“We’re ecstatic with the turnout, and maybe we’ll even make it to 1000 participants next year.”
