Plans have been submitted to build a landmark, Art Deco-style building on West Kirby’s waterfront.

The prestigious apartment block would be built opposite the Marine Lake on the current site of Betton House at 51 South Parade.

The four-storey building, which will include 8 apartments and 10 car parking spaces, has been inspired by famous Art Deco buildings including The Midland Hotel, in Morecambe, De La Warr Pavillion in Bexhill and the Philharmonic Hall, in Liverpool.

The development has been submitted by Hoylake-based, Blueoak Estates, and designed by Falconer Chester Hall architects.

A spokesperson for the developer said: “Subject to securing a planning permission early in the New Year, 51 South Parade provides Blueoak Estates with an exciting opportunity to create a landmark development at a beautiful seaside location.

“Blueoak Estates is an award winning locally based developer and we have a great track record in the local area having recently completed two developments; The Orchard on Springfield Avenue, West Kirby and Lingdale Road, also in West Kirby which have both been well received”.

A previous submission to build 10 apartments on the site was rejected by Wirral Council over concerns about the impact on neighbouring buildings, which the developers have aimed to address with the revised plans.
