The swimming pool at West Kirby Concourse will be shut until at least early April for repairs to a leak.

The popular public facility closed for excavation and investigation work on Monday 18 March after it began losing water.

Wirral Council say it will not re-open for “a minimum of two weeks” and Swim Wirral – which runs lessons for children at the Concourse – has contacted parents cancelling sessions for the next few weeks.

The local authority has told West Kirby Today that a large section of pipework the entire length of the pool needs replacing.

A spokeswoman said: “This means digging down, draining the pool partially, replacing the pipework and then re-tiling before re-filling the pool and getting it up to temperature.

“Our leisure teams have commissioned a specialist contractor who commenced work this week. The pool will be closed for a minimum of two weeks until works are completed.

“Leisure staff have contacted all users to make alternative arrangements where possible.”

Swimmers are being advised to visit the Concourse website and Facebook page for updates.
