The award-winning Leaf cafe group is to take over the Viking, West Kirby Today can reveal.

It is the Liverpool-based company’s first venture in Wirral, and is in addition to its three sites over the water.

The Viking, which was heavily linked to celebrity chef Simon Rimmer, closed down last October, saying it was becoming “challenging” to maintain a “high-quality guest experience”.

Leaf is now looking for staff including an assistant manager, chefs, waiters and bar tenders and is holding a recruitment day at its new premises on Black Horse Hill on Wednesday 15 January.

Their advert says: “LEAF is super excited at the prospect of being part of the West Kirby & Wirral community. We’ll be bringing our Tea, Music & Good Times to the neighbourhood after 10 years in Liverpool.

“Our aim is to build an environment where creativity, friendships and excellence can flourish.

“As an all day community hub, LEAF West Kirby will offer 70+teas, imaginative breakfasts, brunches and lunches, as well as an exciting evening programme of craft gins, cocktails, craft beers, fine wines and delicious food hand made with love and respect.”

It is set to open next month.
