West Kirby Promenade is set to come alive with music, drama and wellbeing sessions, at a special event to welcome residents back to the waterfront and showcase how the historic Old Baths site can be used for different activities that complement its beautiful setting.

Visitors to the ’Back to the Promenade’ event on Saturday 2nd September can also meet the local RNLI, get a bike service, have their faces painted and pick-up a tree to plant at home…all for free!

Local residents are invited to take part in the activities, or to just come along to watch the performances and enjoy the newly refurbished public space, which has been transformed as part of the West Kirby Flood Wall project.

Cllr Liz Grey, Chair of the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee for Wirral Council, said: “Although the works along the promenade were first and foremost about flood alleviation, they also provided a unique opportunity to refresh and revitalise a much-loved public space.

“As the works are now complete, I am looking forward to seeing the Old Baths site enjoyed in ways that make the most of its wonderful setting and hope the event will encourage local community groups and other organisations to come forward with their ideas for how they might use it in future.”
