As weather forecasts report a mixed outlook for the Bank Holiday weekend, we take a look at what is going on in our area.

West Kirby Farmers, Market

It’s that time of the month again. Head down to the Farmers’ Market to be offered a wide variety of local produce, ranging from: Cheeses and yoghurts, local vegetables, local fish, breads and patisserie, local fruit and fruit juices, honey, peanut butters, cakes and bakes, coffee, chocolate and much more.

West Kirby Farmers’ Market will take place on Saturday 27th August at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Graham Road, West Kirby.

Look out for their bright-looking, pink ‘Veggie Fayre Beetroot Hummus’, which is made using local organic beetroot.

The Market will take place between 9am to 1pm.

Art in the Park

Run on behalf of the Friends of Coronation Gardens, Art in the Park is an open air art fair which allows artists a venue and opportunity to sell their work.

Art in the Park, held in Coronation Gardens, just a stone’s throw from West Kirby’s Marine Lake, will start at 12am on Sunday 28th August and will run until 4/5pm.

Wirral Triathlon

The Wirral Triathlon is back and it’s taking place on the Sunday 28th August at West Kirby Marina, South Parade. Starting at 8am.

The sprint distance triathlon consists of a 750m open swim in West Kirby’s Marine Lake.

A 21.4k bike course which starts and finishes at the Marina and finally, a 5k run of a flat 2 loop course around the Marina.

If you are interested in taking part in the triathlon, you must be aged 16 years old or over on the day of the event. Registration opens at 6am and closes at 7:15am.

Hoylake Beer Festival

Hoylake’s Beer Festival will be held on The Parade from Friday 26th to Monday 29th August.

If you are thirsty at the idea of over 65 different real ales available for tasting, as well as a wide selection of ciders and wines you can do this whilst helping to raise funds for Hoylake Parade Community Centre.

There will be live music and fresh food from local producers to enjoy at the events.

The day events:

Friday 26th August- 4pm-11pm

Saturday 27th August- 4pm-11pm

Sunday 28th August- 12pm-8pm

Monday 29th August- 12pm-8pm

Hoylake and West Kirby Lifeboat Open Day

Hoylake and West Kirby Lifeboat Open Day will take place on Monday 29th August from 10am.

Head over to Hoylake Promenade to support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and enjoy a funfair along with stalls, displays, and refreshments.

There will also be an opportunity on the day to see the RNLI’s new Shannon Class lifeboat ‘Edmund Hawthorn Micklewood’ up close.
