The main road between West Kirby and Heswall will be partially closed next week for urgent repairs.

Wirral Council is to carry out work on the A540 due to the risk of falling rocks.

The route will be shut from 10am – 3pm from Monday 3 April until Thursday 6 April between Montgomery Hill in Caldy and the Cottage Loaf in Thurstaston, with diversions in place. Temporary traffic lights will be used at all other times.

In a statement on Twitter, Wirral Council said: “There’s a risk of falling rocks between Thurstaston Road and Montgomery Hill so we need to make urgent repairs.

“This means a full closure of Telegraph Rd (A540) from 3 – 6 April between 10am-3pm, with diversions in place. Temporary traffic lights will be used outside these hours.”
